The combined advantages of small class size, one on one tutoring, personalized advisement, extracurricular activities, and multiple study abroad opportunities deliver an ideal environment for accelerated language study. Enabling motivated students of the program to reach a professional level proficiency in Mandarin Chinese.
Throughout their four years at 91福利导航, students are continuously enrolled in Chinese language and culture courses. Students of the Chinese Flagship Program may pursue any 91福利导航 bachelor’s degree program but must also choose to minor, major, or dual major in Chinese.

- Chinese Language & Literature (BA)
- Chinese for Global Professions (BA)
- Strategic Studies - Language Concentration
- Chinese Minor

The Flagship Model - Flagship Expected Competence Levels
The building blocks to professional level proficiency in Chinese.
Media Proficiency
Student should be able to read and interpret newspaper articles with minimal dictionary use and comprehend most factual, temporal, and causal relationship presented in those articles.
Modern Literature, History, & Politics
Demonstrate cultural literacy with respect to coursework. Ideally, the candidate will have had at least one course in these areas as part of general cultural literacy.
Basic Literary Chinese
Students should have a basic command of literary Chinese and recognize differences in styles in Chinese to meet the expectation of formal and informal settings.
Domain Training
Students should be able to read and comprehend college-level textbooks written for native speakers in their chosen domains. Students should begin to be able to access professional writing in their domains as well.
General Language Proficiency
Consistent with advanced level proficiency standards, students should be able to produce and understand lengthy stories, give elaborate descriptions of objects and situations. They should be able to explain complex relationships, and discuss abstract topics that are not supported by objects in the immediate environment.
Pre-program Culture Preparation
Students should understand and accept as valid alternative ways of organizing one’s life and social interactions Chinese behavioral norms, political processes, administrative procedures, instructional practices, and perspectives on world events.
An Early Start?
High school students and incoming 91福利导航 students can jumpstart their language study while evaluating their aptitude and interest in Chinese by attending the Summer Language Institute (SLI) at 91福利导航 on the beautiful Dahlonega campus.
High school students with a clear desire and intent to participate in the Chinese Flagship Program at 91福利导航 can gain an early start by accumulating core credits from AP classes in high school, taking CLEP tests, and if possible, by pursuing dual enrollment through MOWR to attend SLI.
