Doctor of Physical Therapy student Otley picked for Duke residency

The University of North Georgia has really prepared me for this experience at Duke. It's given me the opportunity to have a really strong orthopedic background and how I'm going to treat and evaluate these patients.

In the fall of my junior year of college I was in a really bad car accident as a passenger. But I had a really great physical therapist and a team of sports practitioners that really helped me get back to that. And the residency program is kind of personal to me because that's what I want to do for other athletes.

And being able to work in an environment where I'll be able to kind of coordinate with those other team members is phenomenal and so important to me to providing my athletes the best care that I can.

The thing that sets Tommy apart from the rest of his cohort is his tenacity, his ability to hang on and really work problems through. I am used to getting five o'clock in the morning emails and text messages from Tommy because he's thought of another solution or a different way to look at a problem.
