Santander, originally from Venezuela, has performed both nationally and internationally, and his performance will offer "an exotic and magical soundscape," according to Dr. Benjamin Schoening, professor and Music Department head.

"These pieces present the piano in a way that reinvents the instrument, presenting sounds that are otherworldly at moments," Schoening said.

"It is such a unique and riveting experience to hear the piano performed in this way."

Two days later, the renowned Vega String Quartet will present an evening of chamber music in the Gloria Shott Performance Hall at the Dahlonega Campus at 7:30 p.m. on March 25. The group, which the New York Times said, "created a space of its own," is currently completing a residency at Emory University.

The 91¸£Àûµ¼º½ Low Brass Collective and students from the low brass studios will present their annual Spring Euphoria events at 7:30 p.m. March 26 and 7:30 p.m. March 28, with both events in the Gloria Shott Performance Hall.

The 91¸£Àûµ¼º½ Bands will present their annual Parent-Alumni Weekend outdoor concert on April 20.  This year, the concert will happen in the courtyard of the Cottrell Center for Business, Technology & Innovation at 1 p.m.

Parents, alumni and other audience members can expect a feature performance by the Lumpkin County High School band, under the direction of 91¸£Àûµ¼º½ alumnus Cory Jackson.  The concert will conclude with a performance by the combined group which will feature roughly 135 musicians.
