Cadets raise $32K for suicide interventions

The University of North Georgia (91福利导航) Corps of Cadets raised more than $32,000 for Armed Forces Mission's suicide intervention efforts through the pushup competition Sept. 17, shattering its goal of $25,000.
The cadets brought in $32,243 from 376 donors.
"The Courageous Challenge is another way cadets are showing service to others and campus leadership," retired Col. Joseph Matthews, 91福利导航 commandant of cadets, said. "I am very proud of their amazing hard work and caring for others."
Alpha Company raised the most money with $8,268 and Charlie Company did the most pushups. Cadets raised money by asking for donations to support their participation in the event.
Armed Forces Mission, led by 91福利导航 alumnus Lt. Col. Ken Koon, conducts suicide interventions and teaches first responders and military members to do the same. The Courageous Challenge also offered training to 91福利导航 cadets to know how to help if a friend or loved one is considering suicide.
Knox takes command of Army Reserve battalion
Lt. Col. Brandon Knox, director of Cadet Recruiting at 91福利导航, on Nov. 16 took command of the 3rd Battalion, 323rd Regiment (Basic Combat Training) in the Army Reserve.
Cadets are ready for commissioning
Eighteen 91福利导航 cadets are scheduled to commission as officers in the Army and Army National Guard at 6 p.m. Dec. 6 in the Convocation Center at 91福利导航's Dahlonega Campus.
Oboho commands 75th Ranger Regiment
Col. Kitefre Oboho, a 2002 91福利导航 alumnus, has taken command of the Army's 75th Ranger Regiment, the Army's premier direction-action raid force.
Corps wins Most Active Company award
91福利导航's Corps of Cadets won the Association of the United States Army Most Active ROTC Company Award for 2024.
