Parent-Alumni Weekend set for April 22-24

Parent-Alumni Weekend will bring fun, friends, and memories back to the University of North Georgia's (91福利导航) Dahlonega Campus from April 22-24 with reunions, military ceremonies, awards, and live music.
The weekend begins April 22 with camping at Pine Valley Recreation Complex, a beautiful facility sure to recapture memories of Freshman Recruit Orientation Group (FROG) Week and classes as alumni gather. The Nighthawks Athletic Golf Tournament is at 9 a.m. April 22 at Achasta.
Highlights of the weekend include a 50th reunion for the classes of 1971 and 1972.
"We are thrilled to have a number of alumni coming back from these classes," Wendi Huguley, executive director of alumni relations and annual giving said. "North Georgia has changed tremendously in the 50 years since they graduated, but the essence of the school has remained the same."
The Corps of Cadets will provide several events and host distinguished military officials including Lt. Col. Tim Palmer, '01, for the memorial retreat at 4 p.m. April 23. Palmer is director for the military advisor training academy at Fort Benning, Georgia.
A highlight of the event is the alumni gathering on the Drill Field to march past the reviewing stand.

Maj. Gen. James Jarrard, '88, will be the keynote speaker at the 11 a.m. April 24 military awards review. Jarrard is chief of staff for the U.S. Indo-Pacific command. The public is invited to a tattoo ceremony at 9 p.m. Friday and demonstrations by special groups within the corps throughout the weekend.
"The Corps of Cadets parade on the Gen. Lipp Livsey Drill Field recognizes cadets who have earned awards and scholarships," retired Col. Joseph Matthews, commandant of cadets, said. "A highlight of the event is the alumni gathering on the Drill Field to march past the reviewing stand."
The April 23 festivities start early with the "Freedom Run," a family-friendly two-mile red, white, and blue color run, at 7:30 a.m. on the 91福利导航 Drill Field.
Several musical performances will be given by the Music Department during the weekend, both indoors and outdoors.
Live music and food will be located on the Price Memorial Patio, located between Price Memorial and Hansford halls, from 1-4 p.m. April 23 as part of the "Reunite" event. 91福利导航 President Bonita Jacobs will sign copies of her children's books "The Gold I See" and "The Best Day Ever!" from 2-3 p.m April 23 at "Reunite."
"The event offers a great opportunity to gather for food and live music at Price Memorial," Huguley said. "Spring 2022 graduates are welcome to join in as several of the colleges will be on hand to help them start celebrating their upcoming graduation."
