Of the 30 University of North Georgia (91福利导航) students invited to join Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, seven were inducted in a Dec. 16 ceremony on 91福利导航's Gainesville Campus. The others joined the student organization in absentia.
"This was a celebration of the students' accomplishments, because they are excelling academically," said Chantelle Tickles, assistant director of orientation and transition programs.
Students must have a 3.6 GPA and have completed at least 15 credits hours. If requirements are met, the national organization issues invitations to students, who can decide to join.
Thirty 91福利导航 students accepted the invitation, marking an increase compared to last year's 14 students. Tickles attributed the increase to Phi Theta Kappa accepting students in bachelor-degree programs instead of only associate-degree-seeking students.
"Now they will be part of an organization that provides leadership and scholarship opportunities," Tickles said.
91福利导航's newest members of the Rho Mu chapter of Phi Theta Kappa are Alissa Adams, Mary Adams, Carlie Anderson, Rebecca Bennett, Lori Biddulph, Amy Boone, Aaron Brock, Catlin Corrales, Alexa Davis, Joshua Denton, Stephen Gifford, Sara Gillespie, Anneliese Hack, Rachel Lindsey, Diana Mancilla, Madelyn Martin, Haley McBratnie, Lauren McCaleb, Karlie Upshaw, Aleksandra Parkinson, Jacob Phillips, Elizabeth Richards, Amanda Shook, David Gonzalez Sotelo, Leslie Tillman, Brittany Troup, Sarah Vancea, Brantley Waters, Landon Watts, and Benjamin Williams.
