Visual Arts students to see national and international artwork up close at 91福利导航 galleries

A painter, muralist and illustrator, Art Rosenbaum will be the featured artist from Sept. 17 to Oct. 4 in the Roy C. Moore Art Gallery in the Continuing Education and Performing Arts Building. Rosenbaum has been an influential fixture in the Georgia art community for decades.

is known for his portraits of musicians and recordings of traditional and folk music. This fall, University of North Georgia (91福利导航) students will study his artwork up close during his exhibition on 91福利导航's Gainesville Campus.

A painter, muralist and illustrator, Rosenbaum will be the featured artist from Sept. 17 to Oct. 4 in the Roy C. Moore Art Gallery in the Continuing Education and Performing Arts Building. The exhibition will have art from the 1970s until 2018.

Visual arts students enrolled in a portrait course will hold classes in the gallery this fall to examine and learn from Rosenbaum.

"They will be able to learn by sketching from a master's work," said Victoria Cooke, director of art galleries at 91福利导航.

Rosenbaum is the second exhibition scheduled for the Roy C. Moore Art Gallery this fall.

Launching the exhibition schedule at the Gainesville Campus will be the Faculty Biennial from Aug. 22 to Sept. 13. This biennial features recent work by 91福利导航's Department of Visual Arts faculty members on each campus. Pieces range from traditional drawing and painting, to ceramics and sculpture, printmaking, and mixed media works.

The third exhibit on the Gainesville Campus will be ": Story in Structure" from Oct. 15 to Nov. 1. Steele is a graphic designer and book artist who produces movable books and works made with engineering paper. He takes inspiration from such diverse, historical sources as the Commedia dell’Arte and ancient maritime mythology.

Wrapping up the Gainesville Campus exhibitions will be the Fall Senior Art Exhibition and the Holiday Art Sale. Running from Nov. 12-30, the senior exhibition will feature the capstone projects of the graduating seniors. The Holiday Student Art Sale will run from Dec. 3-14 and feature ceramics, prints, paintings, photography, digital media, and sculptures. All proceeds will be paid directly to the students.

Artists' talks and receptions will be announced at a later date on the 91福利导航 art galleries' webpage and Facebook.

On 91福利导航's Dahlonega Campus, the Department of Visual Arts will launch the fall semester's exhibitions with the Faculty Biennial. The art will be on display from Aug. 27 to Sept. 20 in the Bob Owens Art Gallery in the Hoag Student Center. The talk and reception will be from 5-6:30 p.m. Sept. 20.

The next exhibit will be the 2018 Southern Printmaking Biennial VIII International Juried Exhibition. It will run from Oct. 1-25 with the reception from 5-6:30 p.m. Oct. 25. The juried exhibition will feature innovative works in all printmaking media including monotypes, large-scale prints, and 3D prints. The 2018 juror is , assistant professor of art at the University of Arizona.

Beijing-based artist Ru Yi is an avid collector of naturally eroded antique stones. These decorative sculptures inspire his Chinese-ink paintings which are at once traditional and modern, mysterious and convincing, and unique and universal.

Closing out the fall semester shows in Dahlonega will be "Ru Yi: Landscape of Stone." The exhibition will run from Nov. 8 to Dec. 4, with the artist talk and reception from 5-6:30 p.m. Nov. 8. Beijing-based artist Ru Yi is an avid collector of naturally eroded antique stones. These decorative sculptures inspire his Chinese ink paintings, which are traditional and modern, mysterious and convincing, and unique and universal.

"Chinese ink painting is different from a European style oil painting," Cooke said. "For students, seeing it on a slide is not the same as seeing it in person. And it is better for students to be exposed directly to art than through the internet."
