Geomatics Graduate Certificate
This certificate strives to meet the demand for highly skilled and educated land surveyors and geomatics professionals in Georgia. Geomatics is a rapidly changing field that is always incorporating the latest technology to improve accuracy and precision in spatial data collection. The Department of Labor Occupational Handbook predicts faster than average growth in this field over the next decade.
The University of North Georgia Graduate Certificate in Geomatics includes all of the coursework required for the state of Georgia's surveying licensing process at the graduate level.

Geomatics Graduate Certificate Curriculum
You must maintain a 2.5 GPA in all required Geomatics courses.

This course covers land surveyor ethics and professional responsibility, the creation of Georgia property statutes, real property law, real and record evidence, records research, conveyances, recording systems, the public domain, eminent domain, legal aspects of boundary establishment, unwritten title, easements, prescription, water boundaries and surveying plans.

This course introduces students to professional practice as a Professional Land Surveyor. Topics include subdivision design, site layout, zoning and land use regulations, professional ethics, and an overview of business practices. The course will culminate with the student preparing a professional quality survey deliverable presented to the class.

Prerequisites: ENVE 5222K and ENVE 5465, or permission of Department

This course covers the usage of ground based lidar equipment to produce elevation models, 3D scenes, volumetric measurements and other products in industry standard lidar data formats. The design of lidar sensors and how accurately georeferenced point cloud data can be collected is also covered.

This course covers unmanned aerial systems (UASs), regulations on UAS use and how they are used to produce high resolution, spatially accurate, planimetric maps and models of terrain and objects.
